Voters in local communities will head to the polls on Saturday to elect new city council members, alderman an MUD board members.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

About 5% of eligible voters cast ballots in the May 4 Rosenberg City Council election during the early voting period, according to a report.

The Fort Bend County Elections Administration, which is conducting a joint election involving communities and MUDs acros the county, reported that 1,090 Rosenberg voters cast ballots in persion during the 9-day early voting period.

Voters may cast ballots at any polling site in the county as long as they have proper identification.

All seven seats on the Rosenberg City Council are up for election, including mayor.

Running for mayor are previous mayors William “Bill” Benton and Cynthia McConathy. Present Mayor Kevin Raines is not seeking re-election.
