A Fort Bend County grand jury has returned a capital murder indictment against a woman believed to have been involved in the murder of a Rosenberg man in September 2020.

Irene Deleon Banda, 57, could be sentenced to death in connection with the death of Ramiro Martinez, 48, on Sept. 11, 2020.

Banda was arrested in Bexar County in March on an outstanding Fort Bend County warrant.

Rosenberg officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 1800 block of Callaway Cove Court around 10:49 p.m. that Friday in reference to a home invasion/ robbery.

Upon arrival, officers located the homeowner, Martinez, with apparent gunshot wounds.

“A thorough investigation into the circumstances and facts began which ultimately led the Rosenberg Police Department to obtain an arrest warrant for Jorge Castellanos, 32, of Corpus Christi, Texas for the alleged offense of capital murder,” RPD told The Herald in the days following the murder.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, Jorge Castellanos was detained at the US/Mexico border and later transported to Fort Bend County where he is being held without bond. He was indicted on Dec. 21, 2020, on a charge of capital murder.
